Our Services

"Once we
learned the correct way to teach our dogs, they really started to
learn quickly. At home I am better able to handle problems with
my dogs with better results. We always looked forward to coming
to class and are so thankful we took these classes. They sure
have made a world of difference in how our dogs are turning out!"
- Kim of Mount Horeb
"It really
helped to have instructors that are patient and non-judgmental. This
makes classes different from others we have been to. We've
taken classes elsewhere and these are by far the most fun." - Lulu's
mom of Madison
“I've had wonderful
results with Teacher's Pet Training Academy. I recommend the
courses to everyone. I get a lot of great compliments from
strangers at the dog park about my dog's good behavior!” -
Stefanie of Madison
We firmly believe the best way to achieve
a well trained dog is for the owners to be involved in the process.
A trainer could take your dog for a few days or longer and return to
you a dog that is well trained - for them. That does not
guarantee you will have the same results when that trainer is no
longer present. In our group
classes or private lessons, a Professional Dog Trainer will help to
show YOU how to teach your dog, so you and your dog work together
towards lasting obedience lessons. In addition, our group
classes consist of only 4-8 dogs per class with at least 2 trainers
present to encourage individual attention - you will not be lost in
the crowd or feel left out in our group environment!
Recently, Teacher's Pet has made many
changes to our program. We have been in business for almost 10
years and decided to refine our program to only offer the best of our
services to best meet the needs of our clients. Our new class
format is unique to Teacher's Pet and we are sure you will find it to
be the best use of your time and money while working to achieve the
best level of success with your dog.
Beginning Dog Training Class - Your Starting Point
If you have a new puppy, a
newly adopted dog, or have never taken a group class before this is
the place to start. You will take either our Puppy Class or
Adult Dog Class (depending on your dog's age) and learn the basics to
positive reinforcement training using shaping, capturing, and luring.
Beginning skills such as Gentle, Settle, Name Recognition, Sit, Down,
and Stand will be taught. After completion of this class, you
will go on to take our 'Electives' to work on specific areas needing
more help and refinement.

Electives - Where to Go Next

is Only Offered at Teacher's Pet. Electives are classes that meet
just one night and only on one specific topic. We tailor the
difficulty of that specific topic TO YOUR NEEDS! So you get

the elective as many times as you like to get to the performance
ability you are happy with, each time we will continue to adjust the

Come, Heel, Outdoor Exercises, Attention, Tricks, Manners, Barking,
Kids, and more. No need to commit to another 6-8 week class working
